Only Time Can Say

How much control do you really have over life changing events? The answer can range from none at all to plenty. Will you make a choice or leave it to chance? How you respond to events you are not a part of creating will be the biggest determining factor in the outcome. In the end, this is the only thing you can control.

There is a vast difference in reacting and responding to any situation in our lives. To react does not require thoughtful consideration. A knee jerk emotional response typically arrives as a reaction.

To respond to any situation requires careful consideration before we determine how we really feel, what we believe is the best course to arrive at our own personal goals and how we will present those thoughts. This may seem to be a time-consuming action you cannot take when an answer is required. In reality, it can take a few seconds of pausing, setting emotions aside and making a quick assessment of what it be lost or gained. Your response will flow naturally once you take the time for that short pause.

How is your day going to flow? You can leave it to chance; wait and see how time tells the story by how the final notation is recorded. Or, you can consider the options and plan your reaction. Then you will define where the road goes, your road.

Who will be in your life? Leaving it to chance requires no choice. It allows your heart to sigh and say, 'It must be left to chance, for who can control what their heart chooses, or if a love can grow?' Do you leave it to time to determine whether your new love is a lie, why your heart cried? You do if a reaction, or chance, is the choice you made.

Or, you can carefully consider where this new road will go and then decide if you want to allow your love to flow. Is it a good change or will sleepless nights keep all of your heart energy engaged, wondering? If you've made a discerning choice, before you heart is engaged, your love can grow as your heart becomes engaged. It really is up to you; do you make a choice or say 'Only time can say?'

You can choose not to allow your days to sleep because your nights are stolen, wondering where the road will turn, what your heart may choose or where the road goes. Do you react or respond to those chance surprises and turns in the road? For every important 'chance' turn in the road, you choose to react or respond. Do you live looking through the narrowed vision of the rear view mirror in regret for what has passed, or turn your attention to the windshield where a wide expansive view is before you?

Who knows? Only time
